IVCA Welcomes New Chairman Phil Alphonse
July 3, 2024
The Illinois Venture Capital Association (IVCA) is proud to announce Phil Alphonse as its new Chairman. Alphonse has been a part of The Vistria Group since its founding in 2013 and currently serves as a Senior Partner and Co-Head of the firm’s Knowledge & Learning Solutions team. The Vistria Group, managing approximately $12.9 billion in committed capital, specializes in education, healthcare, financial services and real estate sectors, balancing purpose with profit.
Alphonse’s appointment, following over a decade of involvement with IVCA, will extend through December 31, 2025. Under his leadership, IVCA aims to further its mission of fostering a robust Illinois business climate and strengthening the private investment community.
As Alphonse steps in, IVCA extends its heartfelt appreciation to outgoing chairman Jim Macdonald. A Managing Director at First Analysis, a pioneering venture capital firm and IVCA founding member, Macdonald has been an integral part of the IVCA Board since 2007.
Macdonald’s tenure saw several key accomplishments, including:
- Overseeing the successful transition to Christie Pruyn as IVCA Executive Director in 2023
- Spearheading the development of the new strategic plan for IVCA
- Finalizing the establishment of the IVCA Promoting Diversity Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting IVCA’s diversity initiatives
IVCA looks forward to continued growth and success under Alphonse’s guidance, building on the strong foundation laid by Macdonald and his predecessors.
