STATE FAIR TAKES CENTER STAGE

Most of official Illinois political energy is in Springfield the next few weeks as the Illinois State Fair kicks off and contenders for statewide office now an in the future jockey for attention. The governor unveils the butter cow today, there’s a parade Thursday, then next week on Wednesday the Democrats gather with nationally known guests highlighting the events and the Republicans take the spotlight on Thursday.

Legislators are spending most of their time currently doing district-level events and putting resources into their campaign accounts for the 2024 elections. The governor has signed most of the bills sent to him by the legislature from the 2023 session.
