HOME STRETCH / PHOTO FINISH?

The legislative session just Saturday’s Kentucky Derby could be a photo finish. Clearly the legislative horses are heading for the clubhouse turn and preparing for a stretch run toward the May 24 targeted adjournment. Built into the schedule are several days for attending to the budget, which stretches the schedule tentatively to May 31.

To continue to analogy, there are many horses in the race.

Mayor Johnson is in the Capitol today and tomorrow for funding for a wide range of         City needs including schools.

The governor’s plan to crack down on insurance companies.

And, of course, the budget for fy 25.

PENSION FIX

We’ve written previously about efforts to address the overall pension liabilities faced by the state (and other entities of government) and the current pressure over how to “fix” the Tier Two pensions. Lawmakers are meeting in committee this week for further discussions, and civic leaders in Chicago have urged them to act:
