Frontenac Completes the Sale of Newterra to Grundfos

August 20, 2025

Coraopolis, PA

Frontenac has completed the sale of Newterra, a provider of water and wastewater treatment solutions, to Grundfos, a global provider of advanced water solutions. Financial terms of this transaction were not disclosed.

Newterra is headquartered in Coraopolis, PA. The company offers a broad portfolio of water treatment solutions and services for municipal and industrial customers across diverse applications, including drinking water, industrial process water, wastewater, stormwater, and remediation. The acquisition by Grundfos is expected to enhance Newterra’s presence and capabilities across the water solutions ecosystem.

“I’m incredibly proud of how Newterra has grown in scale, capabilities, and talent throughout our partnership with Frontenac,” said Kevin Cassidy, CEO of Newterra. “Frontenac has been more than just an investor – they’ve been a true strategic partner. Their close collaboration has helped us drive organic growth, execute on key acquisitions, and invest proactively in our systems, processes, and people.”

Frontenac acquired the company in October 2020. In just under five years, Frontenac and Newterra unified previously distinct segments across the business, generated substantial organic growth, completed and integrated four add-on acquisitions, built a talented team, and upgraded systems and processes enterprise-wide.

Ron Kuehl, Managing Partner at Frontenac, commented, “The results achieved at Newterra are a testament to the commitment and talent of the entire Newterra team.  Every day, the company has a positive impact on the environment, treating over 1 billion gallons of water and wastewater. Newterra also provides solutions to remove harmful forever chemicals, such as PFAS, from drinking water while traditional treatment technologies cannot.  We are proud to have been a part of such an impactful company. It’s been a privilege to support Newterra’s growth.”

“Newterra is a great example of Frontenac’s integrated model. Our investment professionals, Portfolio Resources Group, CEO1ST Partner, management team and board members combine expertise, experience and conviction to support a business through a transformational phase of growth,” said Greg Ruffini, Vice President at Frontenac. “From day one, our team aligned around a clear strategy. We leveraged our operational playbook and water sector knowledge to work to accelerate performance and position the company for long-term success.”

Raymond James served as financial advisor and Winston & Strawn served as legal counsel to Newterra.
